A look back…our first decade

This year marks the start of our second decade of working to make the world a little better. For over ten years, Judi Marvel Charities has been dedicated to creating positive opportunities for people and families with special needs. We are very proud to report that over the past ten years, we have funded 43 grants to 40 different non-profit service providers in the tri-state area. Thanks to you, our loyal donors, our grants have provided assistance to homeless families, displaced foster children, people needing emergency food assistance, and children with special needs. In the spirit of empowerment, we have also helped to provide counseling, education and support programs for the elderly, expectant mothers, those suffering from cancer, and for children who have experienced the loss of a loved one. Every one of our grants support our conviction that people can be inspired and empowered to reach their fullest potential—regardless of the challenges affecting them. The Present

A message of thanks to our donors

As we begin our second decade, we are struck by the significant issues affecting our country—a deep recession, prolonged unemployment and the largest natural disaster in our country’s history. In many cases, the need for hope and inspiration falls closer to home than before and we are reminded of the significance of the most meaningful parts of our lives: family and friends. This year we are ask you, our loyal donors, to do two things:

The 2010 Judi Marvel Charities Fundraising “Challenge”

Take the night off! Make YOUR World a Little Better.

While we typically sponsor an annual fall fundraiser, this year we are asking you to spend an evening making a difference for yourself or someone close to you. We have designated Saturday, December 4, 2010 as the official “Judi Marvel Charities Make YOUR World a Little Better Night”. We encourage you to spend a quiet evening with your significant other or your children, visit a relative, or connect with a friend. Go ahead and plan an activity that is meaningful to you—you deserve it!

And please support our 2010 Fundraising Effort – The “Challenge” Raffle:

In light of the current circumstances surrounding our communities, JMC has developed a unique opportunity for a Challenge Grant that allows our donors to continue to make a difference in the lives of others.  For every $10,000 we raise, $10,000 will be matched to help two non-profits (see below) reach their goals for continued service delivery.  JMC is asking each of you to buy or sell raffle tickets. Why help us sell tickets?  In addition to our strong group of existing donors, JMC is always looking to expand our reach and to let others know about the importance of Making the World A Little Better.  For those who may be unable to participate in the Raffle,  we are also accepting donations towards the Challenge via check, the United Way, or this website (see section titled’ “Donate Online”.)

All proceeds from this fundraiser will support the following:

Children and Families First: Through the administration of the Children’s Special Fund and the Family Special Fund, this organization meets critical client needs which cannot be fulfilled through other services. The majority of recipients are foster children.
Gift of Life Family House: Provides critically needed support programs and temporary lodging for organ transplant patients and their families.

 

 

 

The Future

A Glimpse Ahead

We remain committed to our mission and are excited to spend our next ten years finding new ways to empower people through education, to help others to reach their potential, and to nurture strong family relationships. As an organization, we continually strive to find ways to meet the needs of our communities. We are also setting our sites on enhanced website applications and expanding our list of email addresses so we can provide more regular updates on our efforts. We also expect to continue to sponsor unique fund raising initiatives and events (We LOVE to throw a great party!). Our ability to improve our communities will always rest with you, our committed donor.
